Who co-owns my Key home with me?

At Key, we provide the opportunity for aspiring owners to co-own a home to live in and build equity in with an initial down payment that starts at only 2.5% of the home’s value and no need to qualify for a mortgage.

You can think of co-ownership as a hybrid between renting and owning where you have the benefits of owning with the freedoms of renting.

Your monthly payments primarily cover residency payments for the portion of your home you don’t yet own. And each month a portion of the payment automatically goes towards  increasing your home equity. When you are ready to move out you will get back your home equity investments, plus if the value of your suite has appreciated you will get back any appreciation based on the portion of the home you own.

One of the best parts about Key’s model is that you do not need to qualify for a mortgage. After your initial term, you will have the opportunity to fully purchase the home and take on a mortgage; still there is no obligation and you can decide to continue co-owning and increasing your equity position at your own pace.

Who co-owns the home with me?

We partner with property owners, investors and developers who believe in Key's mission and value high quality tenants.  Property Owners and Owner-Residents sign a forward purchase agreement to assure fair terms and aligned incentives for both co-owners.

Who lives in the home?

Only the people you want to live in! As an Owner-Resident you are the only co-owner living in the home. This gives you the opportunity to build equity in a home that is your own.

At Key, since day one our mission has been to create a world where real estate is a source of prosperity and freedom for everyone.
